Thermomix marinades are a super easy way to add amazing flavour to your meals. Whether you decide to bbq, roast or pan-fry your meat, marinating it first will take whatever you are cooking to the next level.
The acid in marinades causes meat and poultry tissue to break down. This has a tenderizing effect. The breaking down of the tissue also causes the meat and poultry to hold more liquid, making it juicier.
Most types of meat need to soak in a marinade for more than two hours, or even overnight to bring out the best flavor. Large cuts of meat like briskets can marinade up to 24 hours before grilling.
You can also marinate veggies which taste great on the bbq or roasted and as a side to any dish!
The key to a fantastic marinade is balancing the combination of ingredients:
Acid – vinegar*, wine, or citrus like lemon or lime juice, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, pineapple juice, apple juice, or even tequila.
Fat – usually an oil like olive oil.
Flavourings – like fresh or dried spices, herbs, salt, pepper, and garlic.
